Thanks to the Woodend Men’s Shed, we have a fantastic new Children’s Fire House to help entertain the young ones and also start to educate them about fire behaviour. We had a similar unit at last year’s Woodend CFA Open Day which proved a huge success. So much so, that Woodend volunteer Cara Nolan approached the local Men’s Shed to create a similar unit for the brigade. The finished result was recently presented to Woodend CFA Captain Steve Ritchie by Woodend Men’s Shed member Kevin Davis (left), who was also a former member of the Woodend CFA. The Special House has little fires in different areas that can be hit with a special water pump. The new Fire House was put through its paces on the weekend and came through with flying colours. Thanks to everyone involved and here’s to entertaining and teaching children for many years to come.
