From Monday 23 March 2020. Visit MRSC website (Burning off) for important information.

The Fire Danger Period has now ended in the Macedon Ranges. However, fires can only be lit in the Macedon Ranges shire under certain conditions, depending on when you want to burn-off, the size of your land and the amount of vegetation you need to burn, a permit may be required.
This means that you are now able to burn off on your property, as long as your property is an acre or more in size.
A person MUST NOT, without a permit, light a fire in the open air on land, including in an incinerator, where the land size is less than 4,000 square metres. Please check the Macedon Ranges Shire website under burn offs for all of the details.
If you are able to burn off please remember a few simple rules: always clear an area around your fire, don’t locate it too close to trees or bush, make sure someone is always present and make sure you have means to extinguish a fire should it spread.
IMPORTANTLY: Make sure you register your burn by calling 1800 668 511.
Remember, you can dispose of your green waste for free at the Shire Transfer Stations.
