The Woodend CFA recently celebrated our annual dinner and award presentations.

NATIONAL MEDALS
National Medals were presented to Geoff Wells and Troy Bowen. The National Medal is awarded for diligent service to the community, over a long period of time, in hazardous circumstances, including in times of emergency and national disaster, in direct protection of life and property.

SERVICE MEDALS
These recognise how long a member has been a volunteer with the CFA:
10 years Ned Brook and David Laity; 15 years Kylie Fisher and Amber Smeenk; 20 years Mike Dornau, Stewart McKinnon and Steve Rumble; 25 years Evan Colban; and 40 years Keith Mason.
Dave Muir was also awarded Life Membership of the Brigade for an amazing 42 years of service as a Woodend CFA volunteer.

MEMBERS OF THE YEAR
The Member of the Year award is voted every year by members of the Brigade Management Team for the members who gave above and beyond to their Brigade in-volvement.
The Award for 2022-23 went to Gary Hobbs for another year of commendable service. The other Top 5 finalists were Troy Bowen, Patrick Bradfield-Smith, Jo Hambling and Nick McCarthy.

THE CAPTAIN’S AWARD
This is presented by the Captain for his ‘Special Moment of the Year’ and was presented to 1st Lieutenant Malcolm Judd for his driving ability to ‘make waves’ on Strike Team Duty to the Echuca floods.
