Woodend Fire Brigade has recently received some very special donations, and one of the more generous ones came from Woodend Community Bags. The donation will go towards the purchase of some new high-tech hose branches for our Tanker 2. Sally Scanlan from Woodend Community Bags recently dropped into the fire station where she was photographed with Brigade Secretary Annette van Huffel and Communications Officer Keith Mason, and one of the hose branches we are going to purchase.
Woodend Community Bags are made by locals and shared by locals. Inspired by the Boomerang Bag initiative, Woodend Community Bags are taking the town by storm in a positive step towards making Woodend plastic bag free. Volunteers from all walks of life are getting together at the Woodend Neighbourhood House to make reusable Woodend Community Bags from recycled materials. Once the bags are made they are dropped off at our collection point in the foyer of Woodend Library, Woodend Newsagency & Woodend Fruit Market, where everyone is free to pick up a bag as needed.
