When the Anglican Parish of Woodend-Trentham heard that some Woodend CFA volunteers had volunteered to go north to help out our fellow fire fighters recently, they wanted to do something to show their appreciation. Over several weeks they had a collection in their church, which raised a very generous donation for the Woodend CFA. They said in their letter to the brigade that “Your siren each Sunday (at the same time as we begin church incidentally) reminds us that as we gather, you do too”. In an interesting twist, parishioner Norma Richardson is the grandmother of Ben Richardson, who is a Woodend CFA volunteer and was on their first deployment to NSW. Reverand Melissa Clark came down to the Woodend CFA this morning to present the donation to Captain Mike Dornau.
