Just after 2am this morning Woodend CFA was called to a fuse box fire in North Woodend, along with units from Macedon, Carlsruhe and Tylden. Woodend Pumper was first on scene and a fire fighter wearing BA (Breathing Apparatus) quickly extinguished the fully involved meter box using a fire extinguisher. If left a few more minutes it could have easily spread into the roof space. Woodend FCV arrived with a brigade member who is also an electrician, who was able to ensure the house was safe, along with Powercor who disconnected power from the property. Fire fighters then continued with safety procedures in checking the roof space to see if the fire had spread there, and also used the Woodend TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) to look for any hot spots. Crews departed once the property was declared safe.
