We recently held our delayed biennial elections for the various management positions in the Brigade. We would normally have held the elections last May (to start positions in July) but they were delayed due to Covid-19. The CFA recently decided to allow brigades to hold their elections, with the new positions starting immediately and to last for 16 months.

Mike Dornau was again elected Captain, 1st Lieutenant will be Steve Ritchie 2nd Lieutenant Malcolm Judd, 3rd Lieutenant Sue Hobbs and newly-elected 4th Lieutenant Rob Marsh. Long-term Treasurer Steve Ritchie was returned along with Secretary Annette van Huffel and Communications Officer Keith Mason. The other member of the BMT (Brigade Management Team) will be Member Support Stewart McKinnon.

Other major positions were Community Safety Officer Sue Hobbs, Training Officer Rob Marsh, Equipment Officer Malcolm Judd, FEM (Fire Equipment Maintenance) Manager Kate Daniel and OH&S Manager Gary Hobbs. Mike Dornau and Keith Mason were also voted as Group delegates with VFBV delegates being Brad Dean and Steve Rumble.

Other key positions included Training Assistant Tim Duff, Equipment Assistant Patrick Bradfield-Smith, Communications Assistant Ben Richardson, Community Safety Assistant Mike Selby, FEM Assistant Patrick Bradfield-Smith, OH&S Assistant Malcolm Judd and Member Support Assistant Nat Briggs. β€œIt is great to see such a diversity of members taking up key roles in the brigade, especially some of our younger members,” said Captain Mike Dornau. β€œI think it is important that we spread the load as much as possible, and give younger members the possibility to broaden their experience base to help the transition into senior roles in the future.”

The next elections for Woodend CFA will hopefully be back to the normal cycle, to be held in May 2022.
