We recently held our biennial elections for the various management positions in the Brigade. Mike Dornau stepped down as Captain after serving in that role for the last five years and also 17 years as an Officer. Steve Ritchie was elected Captain, 1st Lieutenant Malcolm Judd, 2nd Lieutenant Sue Hobbs, 3rd Lieutenant Rob March and newly-elected 4th Lieutenant Ben Richardson. Long-term Treasurer Steve Ritchie has stepped down and Rob Marsh will take that important role along with long-standing Secretary Annette van Huffel and Communications Officer Keith Mason. Other key positions were Community Safety Officer Sue Hobbs, Training Officer Ben Richardson, Equipment Officer Malcolm Judd, FEM (Fire Equipment Maintenance) Manager Kate Daniel, OH&S Manager Gary Hobbs, Member Support Stewart McKinnon, Junior Leader Laura Schmid and Media & Promotions Manager Mike Dornau.Keith Mason was also elected as Group delegate along with Steve Ritchie, with VFBV delegates being Brad Dean and Gary Hobbs. Other key positions included Training Assistant Kylie Fisher, Equipment Assistant Gary Hobbs, Communications Assistant Renato Wolf, Community Safety Assistant Laura Schmid, FEM Assistant Patrick Bradfield-Smith, OH&S Assistant Malcolm Judd and Member Support Assistant Laura Schmid. β€œIt is great to see such a diversity of members taking up key roles in the brigade, especially some of our younger members,” said Captain Mike Dornau. β€œI think it is important that we spread the load as much as possible, and give younger members the possibility to broaden their experience base to help the transition into senior roles in the future.”
