On Tuesday afternoon, just before 4pm, Woodend CFA received a call to attend a fast moving grass fire on Ashbourne Road. On arrival Woodend Captain Mick Christie made the call to “make Tankers 20”. The fire was spreading quickly in strong winds. It took over 3 hours to control, contain and extinguish the fire. Four appliances from Woodend were supported by vehicles from other CFA brigades including Karlsruhe, Hesket-Kerrie, Kyneton, Macedon, Mtr Macedon, Newham, Trentham and Tylden. Police and CFA were called to investigate suspicious circumstances. It is a strong sign of the dangerous summer ahead of us. If you live in the Woodend area and would like a free CFA inspection of your property, please give Woodend CFA a call on 5427 2356.
