The Woodend CFA had returned to our Children’s Hospital Collection just after lunch on Good Friday. At around 2pm we received a call to a grass fire out of control at a property off Black Forest Drive. All appliances and available members were immediately diverted to the fire. A fast attack on the head of the fire stopped it before it spread into a nearby house and bush. Woodend was supported by the Macedon, Newham and Tylden Brigades, taking around 2 hours to control and black-out. The unfortunate delay meant that we missed several hours of valuable Good Friday collecting. If we missed your house due to the fire, you can drop your donation into the Brigade on any Sunday morning (note we won’t be there Easter Sunday). We have until May to send donations to the Hospital Appeal.
