Displays when Total Fire Ban in force
Woodend CFA was again called out this afternoon to a camp fire that had not been properly extinguished. It was spotted by some motorcycle riders along Campaspe Rd in the Wombat Forest, who quickly contacted some motorists who called the CFA. Woodend FCV and two Tankers responded and managed to quickly extinguish the fire and make the area safe. Not only had the fire not been properly extinguished, it had not been lit in a proper pit. There was also a lot of rubbish left in the fire at the end, which should have been taken away. Fortunately the winds were low, as the fire could very easily and quickly spread into the nearby bush … which is tinder dry!
