fire-ready-meetings

The CFA has commenced its Fire Ready Victoria Campaign sharing vital messages about basic fire behaviour, how our surroundings affects fire, how to identify risks around our homes and the dangers of bushfires and what they need to do on a high fire risk day.Two Meetings will be held at the Woodend Fire Station in Urquhart Street starting at 7pm on Tuesday December 1 and Monday December 14, and will presented by CFA Personnel with an informative up-to-date presentation. All local residents are invited to attend one of these FREE instructive sessions. The Fire Danger Period started early November, and even though we have experienced some milder summer weather recently, fires will still spread quickly as grasslands and forest areas dry out more and more. The aim is to reach residents, especially those in high risk areas (Woodend is in the Top 52) and ensure they have ample information from which to make an informed decision in the event of a bush or grassfire and importantly, from a preparedness point of view, be able to identify and reduce their risks prior to the fire danger period. The Woodend CFA will also have a display at the Woodend Farmer’s Market on Saturday December 5 and January 2, if you wish to drop by for an informal chat and pick up the latest information and booklets available.
