Woodend CFA and SES were called out to a tragic traffic accident on the Calder Freeway in the early hours of this morning, just north of the Macedon/Black Forest Road turnoff.

A teenage boy became the second person to die after a four-wheel-drive carrying seven people lost control and rolled in Macedon on Friday night.

Police say the vehicle was travelling on the Calder Freeway, south of Macedon Woodend Road, when it crashed just after 11pm. Police believe the 4WD was travelling south when it lost control and rolled several times. One man died at the scene while a male teenager lost his life on Saturday morning in The Alfred hospital after suffering serious head injuries in the crash.
Five other males were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are looking into the cause of the crash.

A huge thank you to the Woodend CFA volunteers who attended the initial call and those in the relief crew that went out at 6.30am. Please take care on our roads, especially these cold and icey mornings.
