Displays when Total Fire Ban in force
Just before 6pm last evening, Woodend and Macedon were called to an MVC on High Street in Woodend, with smoke issuing from a vehicle. Woodend Pumper was first on scene, quickly followed by Woodend Tanker 1, with Macedon Tanker released. The crash was actually on the railway bridge forcing the road to be blocked in both directions. Woodend volunteers made sure the scene was safe until the tow truck could clear the vehicle away. They then cleared the road of debris before it could again be re-opened after more than an hour. In the meantime, the driver had fled the scene, with Police following up once the scene was clear.
