Just after 5pm yesterday evening, Woodend CFA was called to a Motor Vehicle Crash on Romsey Road. Woodend Pumper was first on scene, closely followed by Woodend Tanker 1. We discovered a car had crashed into a tree on a straight section of road. We immediately called for Police for traffic control as the tree had fallen across the road and blocked it. The lucky driver had extricated himself and was attended to by Ambulance Paramedics, and only suffered minor images. This is amazing when you consider the damage to the vehicle. We were quickly joined by crews from Newman and Hesket Fire Brigades, along with the SES to clear away the tree. All emergency services worked seamlessly together and were able to reopen the road within 30 minutes. Another example to take it easy on our country roads in wet and slippery conditions.
