Just after 6am this morning, Woodend CFA was called to a ‘Grass and Tree Fire threatening a fence’. It turned out that it was a bore pump under some large pine trees that had been left on overnight, that started an electrical fire in the early hours. The fire then spread into the pine needles and threatened tho move up into the trees. Fortunately, a passing neighbour saw the flames and promptly called 000. We were also very lucky that the strong winds we had yesterday had finally abated, otherwise the fire would have spread far more quickly. Also a good warning to check any electrical equipment you may have, especially if it is in a position that can threaten a potentially dangerous fire. The Brigade had the fire under control in around 20 minutes.
