The Fire Danger Period for the Macedon Ranges Shire ended at 0100 hours on Monday 30 March 2015.
The conclusion of the Fire Danger Period is based on the change in local fire risk conditions.
Burning off grass, stubble, weeds, undergrowth or other vegetation is now permitted outside the Fire Danger Period, but it depends on the size of your block of land. A good opportunity to give property owners the chance to clean up after summer storms.
The Shire has also eased restrictions for people living on certain blocks to burn during the month of April. Of course, there is a free green drop at Shire Transfer Stations all year round.
Check with your local council before lighting up. Visit the mrsc website and go to ‘Burning off’.
Please note that all burnoffs should be registered with ESTA on 1800 668 511. You should also monitor a fire for at least a week for flare-ups.
