DEPI invited Woodend and Macedon CFA to join them today for a chopper flight to view the planned burn that was started earlier this week. The successful burn covered an area of 290 hectares on the side of the mount, and looked excellent from the air. The fire did not crown into the trees and removed a significant amount of ground fuel. DEPI crews will be on scene until Saturday to monitor the few remaining smokers, with forecast rain later in the day to extinguish what is left. The photos also show the area recently harvested in the pine plantation. A job well done DEPI!
