Displays when Total Fire Ban in force
We have been extensively involved in the recent Lancefield/Cobaw fires, with more than 20 Woodend CFA Volunteers and several CFA vehicles working, often 24/7, to bring the terrible fires under control.
During the fire period, over ten days, we visited dozens of homes in the Cobaw Ranges, and were amazed to find that many had done little or no clearing work. In many cases, the flames came to within metres of the houses and our crews had to work very hard to keep the fire away. Fortunately, we were able to save every home.
On the other hand, it was very obvious who had done good clearing work around their homes, and these required very little or no work.
With the onset of an early fire season, NOW is the time to start preparing to reduce the risks of fire danger to you, your family and your property.
