Yesterday afternoon we were called to a structure fire in a business premises on High Street in Woodend. On arrival smoke was billowing from the roof. As we were about to break through the door, a neighbouring business arrived with a key. Once inside we found the ceiling at the rear of the building well alight. Using a ceiling hook, we broke through the plaster and pulled down a section to allow firefighters in breathing apparatus to get a hose in. At the same time we undertook salvage work in removing laptops and a large photocopier to reduce the damage. After about 15 minutes we had the fire under control, but still needed to remove some of the roofing to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. A good save!
