Just as Woodend members were sleeping after a long TFB day at the station, we were called to a fire just before midnight on Sunday. It was to a grass and scrub fire on Old Lancefield Road. When Woodend Lt Steve Ritchie arrived on scene he saw the size of the fire and immediately called for make Tankers 10. A great effort by crews in the dark saw the fire quickly under control and any damage to neighbouring properties was avoided. Crews on scene included Woodend FCV and two tankers, Macedon group FOV and tankers from Carlsruhe, Hesket-Kerrie, Gisborne, Kyneton, Newham, Macedon, Mt Macedon and Tylden. Thank you to Marieke Featonby for the dramatic photos.
