Yesterday Woodend was called to a burnoff out-of-control in Lancefield. We were one of around 10 tankers plus support vehicles, called to the fire that was spreading rapidly. Fortunately, first crews on scene were able to quickly bring it under control as joining crews were able to help with blacking out. Lucky it wasn’t very windy. A sign of really how dry things are, even at the start of spring, and the long fire season we have ahead of us. Well done to the crew on trusty old Woodend Tanker 1, one of its last jobs before moving on to ‘browner’ pastures.
